Kitties on Leashes

Archer has been doing really well with the leash training and is wanting to go outside now.  It is really fun to take him around.  He won’t come in the direction I want him to yet, but he will stop going in a bad direction when I pull the leash and will choose a different route.  I’m having so much fun with walking him.  He isn’t doing too well on the toilet training as he hasn’t figure out how to perch on the edge and poop in the middle, instead he just goes next to the toilet.  This is annoying, but if I can be a little more vigilant about it I think I can get him to poop in the toilet more.  I know he’ll use it at this stage, as I’ve seen him doing it, just not consistently enough.

Lana is doing great on the toilet training and has figured out the perch on the edge and poop in the middle part.  She isn’t doing well with the leash training though.  This is more due to her not wanting to explore or be outside and not the leash being annoying.  I don’t think I can get her over the fear of being outside, and even if we can work through it, she will be harder to control in public spaces if things weren’t going great.  Archer is to the point that I can take him to the park and walk him around for a bit, I just need to get my backpack in a state that it can handle him, and he can handle it.

Hanging out with Julian

Julian came over Sunday afternoon to hack some on the most recent project I’ve been working on.  His assistance is immeasurably helpful.  I am really looking forward to Tuesday hack days, when he’ll come over after work on his way home for an hour or two.

Sunday Morning at the Farmer’s Market

I biked over to the farmer’s market on California Ave this Sunday.  HODO Soy wasn’t there again, and their spot was taken by a crepes stand.  It makes me wonder if they will be coming back to the farmer’s market or if they called it quits.  I decided to grab some bolani, got Steph some more of the yogurt she likes, and had a lamb curry wrap for brunch.  The ride was very nice, even though it was a little cool out.

Magic Draft

Last night Michael and I went over to Andrew’s place to join him and Adam in a small MTG draft.  It was a good bit of fun, and I always enjoy learning the new mechanics.  I had a really fun little deck based around the heroic ability.  Some of the combos I was able to play got pretty out of hand like 2 Phalanx Leaders and a Dauntless Onslaught or Triton Tactics.  The outcome of the draft was that I got a close second to Adam.  First round was Me vs. Michael (2:0) and Adam vs Andrew (2:1).  Second round was Adam vs. Me (2:1) and Andrew vs. Michael (2:?).  We did a third round of Me vs. Andrew (2:1) and Michael vs. Adam (2:1).  All in I think that means that Adam was the overall winner with me just behind, but it was nice to have a rock/paper/scissors kind of win base.  Adam’s removal cards were what really did me in, and I should have had a few counters since I was playing blue/white.

Lunch at Oren’s Hummus

We went to Oren’s for lunch and brought along a bottle of orange sauce.  It was soooo tasty, and I ate way too much.  We might make a habit of taking the orange sauce out to eat since it was so good.

Meeting with David and Michelle

We had lunch and then went to Hacker Dojo to meet with some of the people Steph knows about the game idea we have.  They thought it was a great idea and gave us a good launching point, and hopefully they will be able to point us in the right direction on some stuff once we get our roadmap done.

Working with Bill

I went up to the city on Friday to work with Bill and Steven at Steven’s place.  They are doing well and Preet stopped by for a visit as well.  I’ll probably go down to visit them from time to time.

Race for the Galaxy

Steph, Tina, and I played some Race for the Galaxy yesterday.  We did 2 round with Steph winning both handily.  I got some setups going and then just didn’t get any of the cards needed to pull them off.  It was a little disappointing, but that tends to happen in Race.  I’m not good enough to quickly switch strategies midway through.

Galaxy Trucker, Another Expansion

This game was tons of fun, and the expansion added a lot of really interesting new elements that make the ship building much more complex and interesting.  The lasers everywhere approach isn’t nearly as powerful on this version, as the internal intruders will take out a good bit of that kind of ship.  I figured out a lot about how to use the new components a little late in the process, but next time I play that it will be a great time.  I played with Chris and Jeff.  Jeff was way behind, but I got 100 points with Chris getting 107, so the game was pretty close.  Had I been the first player in any round I probably would have taken the win.
