It's an Exciting World

The life and times of David Geisert

Dinner at Adam’s

Adam hosted a nice dinner for Andrew, Tina, George, Adisa, and us.  We had some amazing food provided by Adam: steaks, gazpacho, and corn.  We brought some veggies pasta.  We got in the hot tub after, and had a good conversation.  It was a lot of fun.

End of Gloomhaven

We finished up Gloomhaven at Georges on Wednesday.  We had a group of characters that were ideal for playing this scenario.  Adam had the summoner who just threw little guys in front of the big enemy.  This caused the main enemy to use up all its giant attacks on the summons and not on us.  I was the Quartermaster and was able to refresh all the items for people multiple times.  This meant more stamina and healing potions for the whole group.  We didn’t really feel like we were threatened for the scenario.  We look forward to the expansion but I think we are going to have a break for a bit to do some other legacy game.

Hamilton

Adam got tickets to Hamilton and he was kind enough to have us join him there.  The musical was the first I’d been to where the entire performance is singing.  They also had an amazing stage that was concentric circles that could rotate.  The casting was also interesting in that multiple characters were played by the same actors.  I liked it a lot and would see it again as it goes soooo fast.  We were also joined by Owen, a contractor who worked with Steph at Mayfield.

Kayak SF Bay Trail – Part 5

Adam and I had an early morning paddle on a Tuesday.  We met at my place at 5:30 am and headed to the spot we had gotten out last time, Fisherman’s Point.  It was empty when we got there at 6am, but people started showing up before we got in the water.  We had smooth waters all the way to Hunter’s Point, at which time we got some really strong currents coming into the bay on a rising tide.  We made it past the point and tried to take out right there, but a security guard said no.  We kept on to a small park another mile away.  We got out of the water around 11am, and went about 12 miles over 4.5 hours.

Grease at Mt. Tam

Adam organized a group of people to go to Grease at Mt. Tam. We met up at the park and ride station, and headed to the top. Theoretically Riley and Rong said they would come, but we thought the odds they would show up were long. Adam brough a great selection of cheese, and Tina brough a spread of fruits.

Riley and Rong eventually got there, and we watched the show.  It was well done, and the ASL guys were hilarious to watch.  Especially when the songs were using non-words.

We headed down to a small restaurant, but Tina, Amit, Steph, and myself were ready to get home.  We had a half hour wait and decided to head out.

The Painted Man

We joined DALK at Secret’s lair. The movie, The Illustrated Man, was pretty bad. None of the characters made any sense. Secret was being very territorial, although she didn’t actually go after any of us. I didn’t want to man handle her so I moved to the other side of the room instead.

Summit One Year

We celebrated our one year as a company. I took Caltrain to Bart then a Lyft. I got there just after time, which turned out pretty well. Steph was at a dive training that morning, so she didn’t join. All the members were there and three SO’s joined. We set up in a small field next to the archery range, and it was perfect for some bacci ball. A few people went with Steven to shoot archery, and I took a short nap after eating way too much. I woke up and ate more, and we had some toasts to the company. We are feeling good about where we are as a company, and look forward to having the next year celebration as a more opulent affair. Steph came to pick me up and we headed back down to the peninsula.

Grilled Cheese

George hosted a grilled cheese festival.  Steph and I prepped by making two cheese blends.  We had to use a special recipe for blending hard cheeses with some gelatin to make a melty cheese that tastes good.  We made so many different types, and George was kind enough to man the kitchen for it.  All of them were tasty, which is to be expected with the amount of cheese and butter we were using.  My favorite was the pepper jack with tomato and avocado.  We also played some Crawl, which was fun for the first two playthroughs, but I didn’t really feel like playing it again.

Kayak SF Bay Trail – Part 4

Adam and I did a small kayak to get to the put in point closest to SFO. getting out on the rocks was a little awkward, but not too bad. The seas were glassy smooth and the views were nice as we went around kayote point. Out of all of our kayaks, this was the least eventful.  We only went about 3 miles in a little over an hour.

We grabbed some lunch and headed over to Tina’s for some Feast for Odin. Tim won, but I had a pretty nice engine going. I had to head out for a date night with Steph, and Amit took over for another round.
