Kitty Weekend

I had a decent weekend with lots of kitties involved.

Friday during the day I went to Jeremy’s place to hang out.  We ended up playing a good bit of Super Smash.  I did better than him on most of the levels, but it was still a great time.

I then joined up with Lindsay and Kevin at their place before heading to dinner at QQ noodle.  Andrew and Debby joined us for dinner, afterwards we went to The Dancing Cat for henna tattoos and playing with cats.  I had a great time there, and had a lot of cats following me around.  One cat was acting like a princess, and she would his at any cat that came near her when she was playing.

The next day I got so many cuddles from my kitties.  Then went to Jeremy’s for some Rock Band.

Karaoke

George hosted karaoke at his place on Saturday, and it was good to be social.  I had a good time, especially with all the Lion King we sung.  I love doing the voices for the stranger characters.  I left a little early as I was loosing my voice and getting really tired for no good reason.  I didn’t want to drive home when too tired.

Escape Room: Pop Star

George organized an escape room that had a different format than we normally experience.   The puzzle was a sequential puzzle which required some backtracking, but the strange part was that it was all part of one giant puzzle.  Normally this group does 8 part puzzles so there is more to do in parallel.  Experienced groups on this should only go with 4 or 5 instead of the 9 we had.  I could see new escape room groups needing the 9 just because there was a ton to keep an eye out for one each play through.  We made it out in 8 loops, which they said was the second best they’ve had.

Afterwards we went to China Live, and had some tasty food.

Roenoke Kittens

Andrew and Debby are fostering kittens, and they got a tough batch.  The two they have now are very similar in appearance, with the biggest difference being one has black on its nose.  They both hissed a lot when I tried to touch them, but didn’t stop me or attack me when I did.  They didn’t like being picked up, either.  I got them both in my lap for at least 10 minutes, with one purring pretty loudly once I started petting it all over.

Bar Tending Class

Stephanie invited me to the Mayfield event of a bartending class, specifically about making punch.  The class was informative, but I don’t drink cocktails all that much so I didn’t put any effort into remembering the teaching.  I’ll stick to beer, cider, and wine primarily.  The class was fun, and it was cool to watch the bartenders work.  I also enjoyed the competition portion of the evening, which Jason’s team won.

Later that night I took Steph to the airport for her flight to China.

Paint Nite

Stephanie and I went to another pain nite and had a great time.  This one was very close to our place, and we ended up walking.  It was nice for it to be just the two of us.  Steph’s was probably the best painting there.

Pokemon Pot Luck

Debby organized a Pokemon themed pot luck at George’s place.  It was a lot of fun and after eating we played some Jackbox Games.

Debby made a Pikachu cake

Andrew made a Psyduck fried rice

Lindsay made Dugtrio hot dogs (with guidance from Kevin)

I made a beet Koffing

and a veggie Scyther

and white chocolate Poke Balls

Steph made Exeggcutes deviled eggs

Newlywed Game

Steph and I joined Andrew/Debby, Lindsay/Kevin, Jamie/Leyan, and a couple from Lindsay’s former job for the newlywed game.  Lindsay and Kevin’s roommate did the hosting job for us, and did much better than the previous two.  We had a good time, and the food was amazing.  We probably brought the worst showing, but only because everyone else brought phenomenal food.

Steph and I ended up losing the game.  Lindsay and Kevin ended up winning. There were a lot of really open ended questions, and I always go way too off the beaten path for those.  I look forward to playing again next year!

Social Friday

Jeremy came over on Friday for the funemployed hang out session.  We tried to get some VR games up and running, but due to long download times at our place, it wasn’t going to be happening any time soon.  We decided with such a long period a boba break was in order.  We took his car to Teaspoon and got some drinks, then brought Steph some shaved ice.  She was working from home for the day.

Don went to Redwood Coast Cider, so I decided to join him.  Gabe was running the bar, so we had a few drinks and chatted.

Justin, a fraternity brother, and his wife came over on Friday.  They were driving to Oakland from L.A. and our place was on their way.  They came by and I thought the best plan would be to go to Devil’s Canyon.  The beer was ok, but we found an amazing food truck, only I didn’t remember which truck it was.  I’ll find it again.

We played some Codenames, and I think they enjoyed it.
