Squash with Nima

Nima is still better than I.  We played for a solid 45 minutes and he won 3 of 5 games.  The games he won were also not as close as the games I won.  I was a little late in leaving my place so I pushed it on the bike ride there and made it in less than 30 minutes when it normally takes over 45.  I don’t think it made too much of a difference in the game, but I didn’t stay as low as I normally try to.  The bike ride back was more than tiring, but it still felt really nice.

Volleyball!

Nima, Caryn, Ryan, Stephanie, Amy, Other Ryan, and myself played some volleyball yesterday and were joined by Noah, Oli, and Tiger.  It was a great game, as we didn’t keep score, but did surprisingly well.  I think I’m really getting the hang of the communication part of the game, which is the most important part and the hardest one to get right.  The bump, set, spikes were numerous, and the terrible hits were few by all.  I am looking forward to playing each monday from now on.  I was really glad Steph was able to join as she wasn’t expecting to be able to get out of work until later.  Nima and Caryn also had just come from the airport, making it on time perfectly.

Volleyball and Chocolate Garage

I just had a great time playing volleyball with Ryan, Steph, Nima, Caryn, and Amy.  I biked over and before starting we had some Stilton and Riesling.  That makes the last of the Riesling gone, I’m tempted to get some more but I’m also tempted to try a few others and see how I like them.  I’ll take a look on some of the wine rating sites and see what a good inexpensive Riesling is.   Ryan had to run, but the rest of us went to Chocolate garage afterwards.  I brought the rest of the Riesling and we finished it off there.  I got an interesting bar from Patrick, a 100% Grenada bar, and 2 by the company with the really nice flavors and the waxy paper covers.  I’m looking forward to having the vanilla one since I haven’t had it before.

Squash with Nima

Nima and I played some good games of Squash today.  It was clear that he was in better shape and had been playing more often.  Despite that we still went 2-3 with his victory.  I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to play again.

Flat Tire

Yesterday when coming back from Bo’s Wedding I ran over some glass and got a flat tire.  Steph was nice enough to come pick me up at the train station in Palo Alto.  This morning I had to walk all the way to the train station and barely missed the 8:36 train leaving.  The next train was scheduled at 9:11, and was also 10 minutes late.  Tonight I’m going to have to take care of my bike, and replace the inner tube and chain.  I think the tire should be fine, but I’ll just have to wait and see.

Fitbit

I got my fitbit!!  it is really cool, and I’m really happy I got the Flex.  In all the ways that you could prefer one over the other I prefer the Flex.  I understand the people that prefer the One, but that just isn’t my style.  I need something that is attached to me, doesn’t provide a big distraction, and is really hard to lose.  The only time I need to take it off is when I’m diving or charging.

My first day on it has gone well as I’m above the thresholds on almost everything.

Soylent!

I ordered a months supply of the food replacement powdered drink supplement called “Soylent” after the movie Soylent Green.  This substitute has been engineered to be easily absorbed and full of all the essential things a body needs.  It is also full of non-essential good to haves like antioxidants.  I will be using this as a meal replacement for those meals when I would be eating by myself.  I might still have some veggies around to snack on.

Fitbit Flex

I’m looking forward to getting my Fitbit Flex, but I got an email yesterday saying that they are going to be 2 weeks behind schedule from the 3 week wait they already told me!  Oh well, I’m still looking forward to it.
