Yoga and Pho

Steph and I joined Lindsay for yoga at Yoga Belly and signed up for a 1 month trial membership.  The class we did was 1.5 hours and was at about 95F.  I was sweating so badly since I overheat very easily.  It was a lot of hard yoga poses held for a long time as well.  I wasn’t able to keep up all the way through, and I realized my balance has gotten pretty bad.  I plan to go back and take a few more classes, since I like yoga and since it will be good for me.

After yoga we went to get pho at Pho Vi Hoa for the salt and liquid.  It was the perfect meal for post yoga.  We met Andrew and Jeremy there.

Sunday Brunch and Mario

Steph and I went to brunch at Palo Alto Breakfast House.  It was really tasty and large portions.  I was able to save enough of my chorizo and egg for a second meal.  We met Lindsay and Jeremy there.  After brunch Jeremy, Steph, and I went back to Beachhead and played some Mario 3D.  We ended up beating the game, but found out there was a whole bonus world and decided to leave that for later.  It was really fun, but some levels we were bad enough that the game gave us the golden tanuki leaves at the start of the level.

Kingdom of Dumplings

Steph and I went to a restaurant in outer sunset that is called Kingdom of Dumplings.  They have 2 locations, one for the restaurant and one for the factory.  They make all their own dumplings and all the ones we tried were delicious.  They had a spicy orange sauce for the dumplings which was delicious.  It was a small Asian twist on the burrito orange sauce, and I want to try my hand at making some kind of the orange deliciousness.  It was about 4 blocks from bo’s old place so I was hoping we could meet up with him there, but he had moved.  We ate at the restaurant then walked down to the factory to pick up some of the frozen dumplings.  We got to see them make a few for us while we were there, which was pretty neat.

Dinner for Chinese New Year

I had dinner with Steph’s family for Chinese new year, and then we got them to play a few of the games we had been making.  They liked the format of the Lizard Wizards, and we got to play a good number of rounds of Bot A Boom.  Steph and I made some Tom Yom to share, and had a little left over this time.  The rest of the food there was tasty, and since there was so much of it I took a good bit home.

Drinks with Brian

We met Brian and one of his friends at San Pedro Square Market, drinking at MarketBeer Co.  The place was very cute, and there were many options for food and drink around.  I didn’t get anything, bust Steph got a tasty cider and pho.

Dinner in the City with Nick

Steph and I went up to SF to have dinner with Nick at an Ethiopian place near where he lives called “Moya.”  The place looked really nice, but was closed for the long weekend.  I’m guessing it is family run, and when the family is away they just close up.  We drove to a place a little bit away that served Eritrean food.  The difference between Eritrean and Ethiopian is minimal, so we were satisfied with it.  It was hard to tell if the differences were because of the slightly different origins, or from the differences between the two restaurants.  We showed up at the right time, because when we left there was quite a line.  After dinner we stopped by a place near Golden Gate Park called Purple Cow.  It is a tiny boba shop, but some of the best Boba I’ve had.  If I’m ever back close to it I’ll surely stop by for a boba tea.  We then stopped by Nick’s place and played a round of Mario Kart.  The computer won, but just barely.  Nick seems to be liking the city when he takes advantage of it, but as expected he isn’t doing nearly as much there as he had previously expected.

Rabbit’s Foot Meadery

Steph and I met up with Tina, Adan, Lee, Kerry, Andrew, Candice, and others at Rabbit’s Foot Meadery.  I had a sip of one of the drinks and it was decent.  I think I got Lee curious about the product we were making and hope to get his feedback on it.  The atmosphere of the place was nice, although a little loud.  Since we went in the middle of the day it wasn’t terribly crowded, but it wasn’t empty by any means.  The place was rather nice, and even though I’m not drinking anymore, I wouldn’t mind going back to hang out there.

Dinner at Iguana

We went to a burrito place for dinner with Brian and some of his friends.  We knew a few of them, but didn’t know most.  The place was on the same block as La Victoria, so we stopped by and got 6 things of orange sauce.  The Iguana place had it’s own orange sauce which had a lot more flavor and spice, but wasn’t as creamy.  We didn’t like it as much since it overpowered everything else, and we were happy that we got so much of the La Vic orange sauce.

Dinner with Nima and Caryn

I biked over to Nima and Caryn’s place and met Steph there for dinner.  Caryn had cooked a really amazing spinach stew, and it was very hearty considering it was vegetarian.  She also served some cheese and bread, with the cheese being a really good sour feta.  They also gave us some really amazing tea and ice cream after dinner.  Nima showed us his new toy, a quadracopter.  Steph and I were able to do some basic control with it, but Nima had gotten very practiced and was able to show us an inversion trick.
