I really liked the way the movie was unpredictable, but things followed from each other. It also did away with a lot of the cheesy stuff like true love’s first kiss. The musical numbers were very forced feeling, and the troll one was just awkward.
I went to the SF location for the Global Game Jam 2014, and got a group to use my product. It was a lot of fun, and the app performed perfectly. I was able to build in a few of the things I’ve been meaning to anyway. The game turned out well with a bit of a super smash feeling. I’ll be using it as a launch title most likely.
We played a few rounds of Galaxy Trucker. Chris’s friend left before the final round, but things were good. Chris ended up winning and I got a close second. We played with a few debuffs, but the ones I got weren’t all that bad.
There was an 8 player game of Space Cadets: Dice Duel. The game was incredibly hectic. We switched up 4 times and played 4 games, with most people getting the chance to be weapons, engineering, navigator, and captain. The captain role was hard, since you had to keep track of all the game states. I liked the weapons the most, as you could focus on building the things. Navigation was also fun as you could try to plan out what you were doing against what the other players were doing. The people there were Stephanie, Chris, Erik, Dan, Tina, Chris’ Friend, and Jeff.
Yesterday I went to Box for games night. We played ticket to ride with a redditor(Adam), Nick, Brian, and a Boxer(Kevin). Adam ended up winning with me in a close second. Brian played a brilliant blocking move, which made a 14 point difference. I was ready to play the turn before that, but had to choose between him going one way or the other; I chose poorly.
Nick, Brian, and I then played Railways of the World the Card Game. It was really good, but none of us quite got the strategy. There is a major component of city stealing in the game that we didn’t take into account. This only becomes apparent at end game scoring time. Most of us were just prepping our own areas where we could deliver goods without having to give many points to the others.
My parents got to try out the Beam+ and we played with the kitties and the Beam+. It was a lot of fun, and they really liked driving it around. There were a few minor kinks, but they were only really noticeable if you were looking for them. With my mom being as unfamiliar with technology as she is I was impressed that she was able to get it up and running. It speaks volumes for the process that they made for getting people into using the Beam+.
