I have decided to help Adam with his pet project of making a 1 person plane. It is very interesting to me, and I am looking forward to learning some from him and the construction. He has just finished the listing of the parts. There were tons of parts, but that should be expected in something as complex and big as a plane. It will be very interesting to see it come together, and help along the way.
This is out of the Ringworld universe, but doesn’t touch on Ringwold itself. The story is focused on the point in Earth history that the PAC renews contact with Earth. Some of the humans become protectors and then have to prepare for the PAC invasion. The story is decent, but the world building in the series is what this book is really about.
Steph and I joined Lindsay for yoga at Yoga Belly and signed up for a 1 month trial membership. The class we did was 1.5 hours and was at about 95F. I was sweating so badly since I overheat very easily. It was a lot of hard yoga poses held for a long time as well. I wasn’t able to keep up all the way through, and I realized my balance has gotten pretty bad. I plan to go back and take a few more classes, since I like yoga and since it will be good for me.
After yoga we went to get pho at Pho Vi Hoa for the salt and liquid. It was the perfect meal for post yoga. We met Andrew and Jeremy there.
Steph and I went to brunch at Palo Alto Breakfast House. It was really tasty and large portions. I was able to save enough of my chorizo and egg for a second meal. We met Lindsay and Jeremy there. After brunch Jeremy, Steph, and I went back to Beachhead and played some Mario 3D. We ended up beating the game, but found out there was a whole bonus world and decided to leave that for later. It was really fun, but some levels we were bad enough that the game gave us the golden tanuki leaves at the start of the level.
Steph and I found a neat stealth co-op game called Monaco. The premise is that you are thieves with special abilities and you are trying to steal all the things you can in the fastest time possible. It is a really fun game, but some parts of it are very difficult. It supports up to four players and would be the perfect kind of game to have on our system.
Bo is now living close to Japan Town, and we were able to hang out with him Saturday evening. We stopped by and talked for a while. His new place is really nice and he is sharing it with a guy who is doing a food truck startup. I’ll have to go work with him and get his feedback on the work we are doing.
Steph and I went to a restaurant in outer sunset that is called Kingdom of Dumplings. They have 2 locations, one for the restaurant and one for the factory. They make all their own dumplings and all the ones we tried were delicious. They had a spicy orange sauce for the dumplings which was delicious. It was a small Asian twist on the burrito orange sauce, and I want to try my hand at making some kind of the orange deliciousness. It was about 4 blocks from bo’s old place so I was hoping we could meet up with him there, but he had moved. We ate at the restaurant then walked down to the factory to pick up some of the frozen dumplings. We got to see them make a few for us while we were there, which was pretty neat.
Dan set up a great experience of puzzle solving and stories. This was a fully interactive puzzle, where you had to get out of the room in one hour. The game was lots of fun, and we were out of time with about 5 minutes of things left to sort out. It was a little frustrating to get so close and not figure it out. I was a little slow on the first puzzle I was trying to solve, so I could have done that better. I don’t want to write too much more here for spoiler reasons, but safe to say it was a great time.
Thursday morning I took the kitties to the vet and got some bad news. The kitties have fleas, Archer is getting badly overweight, and Lana has acne. I ordered all the things I need to take care of these ailments and have taken large steps to work with most of them. The iffiest part is whether or not the fleas have reproduced enough to cause a big issue at my house. I don’t think so as the kitties didn’t have that many. We are doing a very thorough cleaning and keeping the kitties on some medication. Lana’s chin has the acne and it looked pretty bad, but once we cleaned it up it didn’t look too bad. She has a decently bad case of it, but should clear up in a few weeks as long as we keep cleaning it. I’m feeding the cats less, and they should be at a good weight in a couple months. Archer was over 10lbs. Lana is a much better 7.5 lbs. Last week we also tried to take them to the baylands and have them walk around. They didn’t care for it since the ground was wet and it was cold. They climbed up on our shoulders, poor kitties.
