I hadn’t realized how much of a study this was until I listened to this lecture series. I’m surprised and impressed that so many devout people would get together to discuss and debate their religions and how they evolved over time. The evolution in many cases seems to dismiss the legitimacy of the current incarnation. The changes over time were really cool to listen to, especially when it came to the Americanization of many of the religions.
Steph and I cooked some tasty Tom Yom for lunch, and made a ton extra for eating later. This time we used the spice bags I bought, and it worked quite well. We also put in some cauliflower and corn to try out those new veggies.
Steph and Nick faced off against Jeff and I using just the base game. The first game Steph and Nick got way ahead on score and it was a bit of last minute luck and skill that got Jeff to take their score and end the game on score. The second game was a bit more one sided, with Jeff and I taking all the score and then quickly getting the 6 achievements based on score alone.
I have decided to help Adam with his pet project of making a 1 person plane. It is very interesting to me, and I am looking forward to learning some from him and the construction. He has just finished the listing of the parts. There were tons of parts, but that should be expected in something as complex and big as a plane. It will be very interesting to see it come together, and help along the way.
This is out of the Ringworld universe, but doesn’t touch on Ringwold itself. The story is focused on the point in Earth history that the PAC renews contact with Earth. Some of the humans become protectors and then have to prepare for the PAC invasion. The story is decent, but the world building in the series is what this book is really about.
Steph and I joined Lindsay for yoga at Yoga Belly and signed up for a 1 month trial membership. The class we did was 1.5 hours and was at about 95F. I was sweating so badly since I overheat very easily. It was a lot of hard yoga poses held for a long time as well. I wasn’t able to keep up all the way through, and I realized my balance has gotten pretty bad. I plan to go back and take a few more classes, since I like yoga and since it will be good for me.
After yoga we went to get pho at Pho Vi Hoa for the salt and liquid. It was the perfect meal for post yoga. We met Andrew and Jeremy there.
Steph and I went to brunch at Palo Alto Breakfast House. It was really tasty and large portions. I was able to save enough of my chorizo and egg for a second meal. We met Lindsay and Jeremy there. After brunch Jeremy, Steph, and I went back to Beachhead and played some Mario 3D. We ended up beating the game, but found out there was a whole bonus world and decided to leave that for later. It was really fun, but some levels we were bad enough that the game gave us the golden tanuki leaves at the start of the level.
Steph and I found a neat stealth co-op game called Monaco. The premise is that you are thieves with special abilities and you are trying to steal all the things you can in the fastest time possible. It is a really fun game, but some parts of it are very difficult. It supports up to four players and would be the perfect kind of game to have on our system.
Bo is now living close to Japan Town, and we were able to hang out with him Saturday evening. We stopped by and talked for a while. His new place is really nice and he is sharing it with a guy who is doing a food truck startup. I’ll have to go work with him and get his feedback on the work we are doing.
