I played Chaos with Chris, Tina, Jeff, and Cynthia. I was the god of pleasure and pain, which was amusing to play. I wasn’t able to do too much in the way of fighting, and since I was ahead by a little bit the entire game I got hit by a lot of the game actions. The game was fun, but the action moved very slowly. I think it would be better if there were more simultaneous gameplay instead of turns, but that would be very complex. Cynthia ended up winning with Tina in second. I was very close to winning on the threat win condition, but still got third in points.
I played a round and a half of Agricola with Adam, Andrew, and Tina. It was fun, and I was doing well the second game. I had to leave early so that Steph and I could get to Dinner with Jeremy and Andrew at Cijjo. The food was decent, but not great, and the service was horrifically slow.
I went to dinner with Stephanie, Adam, Jeremy, Lindsay, and about 6 other people. We went to Agave on Castro Street, and the food was decent. this was mainly to celebrate Lindsay being back in town. After dinner we went over to Lee’s place and had some of the Japanese candy that Lindsay had brought back from her trip. She had a few really good ones, and a few strange ones. Everyone else settled down for two movies, but I went to Amit’s for poker. I lost pretty quickly, but got to show off the system, and the reaction was very positive.
I joined Steph’s family today in a Qingming, which is paying respects to dead ancestors by burning items for them to receive. The items are representations made from paper. They burned lots of money and clothes. We then went to Golden Wok in San Mateo and had some tasty food. Most of the Bay Area based family was there.
Steph and I decided to sleep in on Saturday, so we hung out in bed. The kitties didn’t really let us sleep since they started asking for attention at 9 am. They were still very cute. I cooked some breakfast and we went to Beachhead to hang out with Jeremy. Steph and he painted some minis and I worked some. Then we went into Palo Alto to get some liquid nitrogen ice cream at a place called scoop. it was pretty tasty, and we shared a triple scoop bowl.
Stephanie did a little painting of Archer and it turned out pretty well. Her subject was very cooperative and sat by the entire time being relatively still. He managed to keep out of the paint this time, which was nice. They are such cute kitties and Steph is a pretty talented artist when it comes to the coloring and blending.
The kitties watched closely as I painted some with my watercolors. I decided to do some simple nature scenes, that had a simple beauty. This led me to a sunset scene and a tree by a waterfall. They didn’t turn out as nice as I was hoping, but I still enjoy them. The kitties liked watching the brush and archer batted at the brush twice. Once he even got a little bit of paint on one of his paws and it ended up on the canvas. The small sapling next to the big tree in the picture is the result of that paw. The painting was a great way to relieve some of the stress that has been building up, since I’ve been working so hard.
Steph and I took a ride into Palo Alto for some chocolate tasting and I ended up getting two bars. Then we stopped by the bike shop before coming back to Beachhead for breakfast. Steph cooked eggs, facon, latkes, and some Indian lentil food. I made some orange sauce, which turned out much better than the previous attempt.
