Lazy Bear

Nick set up a dinner at Lazy Bear last night, and it was amazing.  The food was soooo good, and we had an 11 course dinner that lasted from 8pm to 11pm.  There were 10 of us there including Nick, Steph, Wade, Chrissy, Adam, Brian, Jeremy, and two of Nick’s coworkers.  I had a great time.   I especially liked the egg appetizer, the pork, and the duck.  The chef gave us a bottle of champaign for being the largest group they’ve ever had.  Steph was silly while talking to the chef when he came over.

High Tea

Steph and I had high tea on Saturday morning.  The food was good and the tea was very good.  I liked it, but felt out of place.  I was the only male there, as high tea is a very feminine thing historically.  I would like to go again, but with a larger group and take a longer time to do it.  I still felt a little rushed since we had things to get to afterwards.  We were very lucky to get a spot as someone had canceled earlier that day.  After that we got some cakes at Sakura Cakes and food at Ranch 99.

Dinner with the Parents and the Lees

We had dinner at Joya, and it was really good.  The tapas we started with were great, and filling.  We got the paella out and most people had their fill, but everyone tried it.  It was delicious, and we got to take a ton of it home.  Our parents got along well, and my dad was behaving well.  It was a nice time, but I was really tired and Steph was sick, so the two of us didn’t do too much of the talking.

Brian’s Birthday Dinner

We met up with people at a house in San Jose.  It was a really amazing house and the owners were cooking dinner for us.  They made some amazing food, and the conversation was great.  This was the first time I felt really awkward for not drinking.  I had a great time and Stephanie was funny at the end of the dinner.

Lisa’s Going Away Thing

We went to the city to have a few drinks with Lisa before she leaves.  The event was at an interesting bar, that was newspaper publication themed.  There were a lot of people I didn’t know, and we talked to a few of them.  We then went out to eat at a place called Asha, which had some amazing Thai food.

Niji Sushi and Game of Thrones

After the movie we all went to downtown Mountain View to have dinner.  We tried a few places before settling on Niji Sushi, since they didn’t have a long wait.  We got some tasty tasty food, then headed over to Riley and Wit’s house for the Game of Thrones episode.  The episode was the start of the battle at the wall, and was the first episode to stay in a single location.  I was kind of surprised that they would do that, but wholly understand.  The battle at the wall is one of the biggest events in the entire series, and they will certainly continue the battle in the next episode.

4D Games out with Beachhead

A group got together to go play games at an arcade that had 4D rides.  The group was most of Beachhead house including Tina, Amit, Candice, David, Kevin, Steph, and I. The place was pretty small, and the rides had varying levels of complexity.  The big one had a really nice, and silly, great wall experience.  It had bubbles, and a moving roller coaster like car.  They also had some basic games like ski-ball and pac man.  We spent a couple hours there, then went to a burger and shake place for dinner.  The shake was pretty good, as it was chocolate and butterfinger.

Michael’s Last Supper

We met with Michael at Nolas for dinner.  Peter showed up, but the rest didn’t come for a long while.  We decided to head on in and get some dinner, and the food was decent.  Eventually Daisy, then Nima and Caryn showed up to hang out.  I’ll miss Michael, but we can still have good conversations via email and chat.

Monday Kublacon

We went to Kublacon on Monday mainly to meet with James.  We had a good conversation about what we should expect, and what we needed to do.  He has a lot of good insight on the kickstarter campaigns and games in general.  I was glad that he seemed very open the idea of doing more of the digitizations of his games if this one goes well.  We went to lunch at the broadway grill in burlingame.  It was pretty tasty, especially the carrot ginger soup.
