The Flight to Chick-Fil-A

I didn’t have a great flight to Atlanta, but I did manage to get a good bit of sleep while on the plane.  There was a really big shouldered guy sitting next to me whom I could tell was really uncomfortable, and his shoulders were pushing me into the aisle.  Whenever the carts came by I got a nice knock on the shoulder from that.  Once I got to Atlanta I got my rental car and drove to the first Chick-Fil-A I could find and had a chicken biscuit.  I then spent the next 3 hours taking a nap in the parking lot with the windows open.

Birthday Dinner at Shezan

After I cleaned out my desk from the Mountain View office, Steph and I biked to Shezan for a great birthday dinner.  We got Samosas, garlic naan, paneer tikka masala, biryani, and another dish that I don’t remember the name.  Afterwards she took me to the airport and I set out for Atlanta.

Oren’s Hummus

Last night after work I went to join Steph, Jeremy W, and Amarnath.  I showed up a bit late and Steph got me the classic hummus, which was delicious.

Zeni

Steph and I went to Zeni after sailing to meet Jeremy there.  We saw Abe and Karen when we got there and Karen is very pregnant.  We didn’t get the combos like we had normally.  Instead we got Yemizer Wat, Fava Beans, and Gomen Kitfo.  Jeremy also got a seasoned beef.  Steph got the honey wine.

Going with Bo to get Mariage Liscense

Yesterday Bo and Umi were going to get a mariage liscense.  They were expecting to get married, but since they need another appointment to get married with a ceremony they will have to go back.

Before going to City Hall, we enjoyed some great seafood at Swan Oyster Depot (Yelp)

We had Oysters, Salmon, and they also got some Urchin.  I’ve had urchin before and don’t really care for it.  It was amazing that the urchin was still moving while Bo and Umi were eating it.

It was really nice of them to invite me out for their wedding, even if it didn’t actually happen.

Elephant Bar Restaurant

After the martial arts tournament we went to a place called the Elephant Bar Restaurant.  It was a really great atmosphere.  The fans were big waving fans that went back and forth, and there was a wooden elephant head watching us dine.  The food was decent, but I’d be willing to go back just for the atmosphere.  We all got drinks since they had just finished a really tiring tournament, I got a Blue Moon which was really tasty.  Dan was really happy to get his long awaited beer, since he’d been talking about it since the 3rd to last match he had.  All of them were so tired.  I really enjoyed meeting them all (Chris, Dan, Jason, Heidle, Diana, Michael).

Dinner with Bo and Umi

We went to Holy Grill and talked about what Bo has been doing.  He seems to be doing well, but needs to be a lot more insistent on the companies he is helping to hire him or pay him.  He seems to be really happy now that Umi is here and they are going to be getting married soon.  I found out that Sean Teague is moving to the bay area.  I hope Bo is happy wherever he ends up.  Also found out that John Forrest just graduated and is looking for a job in robotics for a mechanical engineer.

Shezan, Castro, and Shoreline Lake

After horseback riding Steph and I went straight to Shezan.  Castro street at the time had an art fair going on.  While we waited for our food at Shezan to be ready we went down the street and looked at some really amazing art.  I got something for Nana, and possibly will get something there tomorrow for Dad.  After about 20 min we went back to Shezan and got our food, which we took down to Shoreline lake to eat.  The lake was really pretty, and I was hoping to see some goslings but no such luck.

This was a nice little restaurant, and much better place to get lunch than the minimart across the street from it.  I got a really tasty breakfast bagel.  The bagel was a sun-dried tomato based bagel and soooo tasty.  Steph and I shared an iced coffee to keep us going.
