Dinner with Friends

I grabbed dinner with Nima, Caryn, and Michael at Mardini’s Deli Cafe.  The food was very good, and the conversation was excellent.  We talked about the automation of life, and how that relates to the ability to express yourself, especially when relating to others.  We didn’t come to any solid conclusions except that more automation would be nice, and that we look forward to when we can easily have more things taken care of for us without thinking about them.

Patxi’s and Cream

We biked to Palo Alto to meet up with some of Steph’s MIT friends at Patxi’s Pizza for dinner and got some tasty deep dishes.  Then we stopped by Cream for desert.  Two of the four friends live very close by, but they don’t come over much.  They were pretty cool guys, so it would be nice to see them around more.

Lunch at Banana Island

Steph and I drove up to Daily City to have lunch with Lisa at Banana Island.  It was very tasty and we got a ton of roti.  We got the crispy type to dip in peanut sauce, the type stuffed with egg, and the type stuffed with preserve.  All of it was delicious.  I also got a tofu dish to have something more substantial.

Scratch

I biked over to Scratch for dinner with Adam, Andrew, Lee, Stephanie, Cynthia, Jeremy, Brian, and one of Brian’s friends.  The food was decent, but as has seemed to be happening lately the service was very slow.  We ended up getting served by a bus boy since they couldn’t find the waiter.  I thought the lamb was tasty, and I enjoyed the been dip, but the cobbler was terrible.  I was very hungry so I ended up finishing it anyway.

Garden Fresh with Jeremy

We met with Jeremy and his gf at Garden Fresh for some tasty food.  The dinner took a lot longer than expected from slow service, but it was pretty tasty.  We then went to check the line at Cream, which was far too long.  We decided scoop would be a better choice and got some tasty liquid nitrogen ice cream there.  Riley and Jimmy were out on a man date and decided to say hi.  We invited them back to beachhead where we watched lots of random youtube videos.

Songkran Festival

Sunday we went to the Songkran festival in San Jose, and met there Jeremy, Nick, Wit, and Riley.  The food was pretty good, and the Thai ice tea from the temple was delicious.  There wasn’t much else to do there, so we ended up sitting in the beer garden for a bit, while not liking the music.  The speakers were bad and the singing voices weren’t particularly good either.  We then went back to beachhead and played primordial soup.  It was a decent game, but there was a lot of uncertainty about what to do exactly.

Shezan

I quickly biked from the end of the magic draft over to Steph’s so that we could go meet Jeremy for dinner at Shezan.  We got the things in the orange sauce as usual, and it was absolutely delicious as usual.  We sat around and talked for a bit, and then headed back to Beachhead to try to get some work done.

Tasty Tasty Pho and Puerto Rico

I met up with Steph, Jeremy, Lindsey, and others at Pho Vi Hoa.  I biked over and it turned out to be a pretty nice day.  I got there early and was able to cool down after the ride.  We waited a while for everyone to show up, and got a table for the pho, it was super tasty.  After Pho, we went back to Beachhead to play a game.  We chose Puerto Rico to play, with Candice joining Jeremy, Steph, and I.  The game went well, and I got an early lead.  The early lead made people look to me to figure out how to not let me get points.  I was one turn off from winning, but the game ended earlier than expected.  Steph took it with me in second.  Jeremy was in a close third.

Picnic in SF

We met with Lisa and one of Lisa’s friends for a picnic in Dolores Park.  We got there right on time, but Lisa and friend were running about 20 minutes late.  Steph and I went to get lunch really quickly and then we went back to the park to meet Lisa.  We played Mr. Card Game, but I don’t think Lisa liked it.  Steph seemed to be a little more enjoying it, but still didn’t understand the basis of the game.  After the picnic we went back to our bikes and I had a flat.  We walked over to Ritual Coffee to meet with Stefan.
