I got up early, packed up, and headed out to the airport this morning. I nearly forgot my keys, but luckily grabbed them right before leaving. Once I got to Atlanta, I hopped on Marta with the card Mom gave me and went up to Lindbergh station to wait for Jeff. He came to get me, and we went on some errands. We first went by The Dump, which is a place that sells furniture that other places couldn’t sell. Then we went by GameStop and Jimmy John’s. I got a sandwich and Jeff got Grand Theft Auto V. The game is interesting and we are taking turns playing it.
Dad cooked steaks for dinner, and Kim was able to join us before she headed off to her Spanish movie. It was a really simple but nice dinner of steak and broccoli. I must admit that there has been a lot more meat than I’m used to being served since I got back. I think that is mostly due to my mom’s low carb diet.
After dinner my dad and I tried to start a fire with just the wooden dowel and block. We managed to get a good sized coal going, but the kindling that we were using wasn’t good enough to make a fire with. He is going to find some better kindling for next time we are together (probably Christmas) and we can try it out then. I am interested to know where Christmas will be this year. Either Memphis or Atlanta, and I’m hoping for Atlanta.
After helping Mom out this morning with loading the car with Good Will items and then mowing, Kim and I went out to lunch. We went down to The Commissary and it was tasty. I love their sauce and their deviled eggs. We talked about all sorts of things, and mostly relationships since that is the crazy part of the last month. I’m grateful to have such an amazing woman, and not to be caught up in all the drama that has been happening. Mom was nice enough to cover lunch for the two of us. When we got back I helped out with some more packing.
After golfing Dad and I went by the Fresh Market. We picked up a dozen scallops and Dad cooked them up really tasty. I was glad to have them with the bacon on them. The little bits of bacon make things soo tasty. Mom also made some fantastic bacon wrapped asparagus. It is nice having dinner with my family again.
Today Dad and I went to play around of golf. We only played 9 holes, and I still got a 72. 71 is par for the 18 hole course, and I got more than that on the back 9. I lost a lot fewer balls than I thought I would; only 2. Dad had a lot of amazing shots. We had lunch at the club after that and it was tasty. Dad got me a Ghost River beer, which tastes a lot like Blue Moon.
I helped Mom get the items that they no longer needed out of the attic. There wasn’t too much that came down, but it looked like a lot when it was all piled up in Kim’s room. There was a lot of old stuff that seemed like it should have sentimental value, but we would never use it again, and it was easy to replace. I also went through my room and found only a few things that I’d want to keep. Most of the things were puzzle boxes and it was really nice to go through them, with all the memories they contained.
Last night Steph dropped me off at the airport at about 1am. I worked on CatDuo through the night and was ready for some sleep when I got on the planes to Memphis at 6am. The flights were completely uneventful. The first flight to Salt Lake City was even nice, as I had a whole row of seats to myself. The second flight was packed, but I was able to get a good amount of sleep through the whole thing. My mom came to pick me up at the airport just after I got into Memphis at 1pm, and we went straight to a Chick-Fil-A for lunch. I didn’t get anything to eat while travelling, so I was ready for some food. There are Chick-Fil-A in SF area now, but it is still something I like to do when I get home. That and Commissary BBQ. We stopped by the grocery store on the way home and picked up some food for while I’m here. I’ve forgotten how nice it is to have covered room and board.
The last day in Seattle Wit, Brian, Candice, and I went to breakfast at a waffle place. The waffles were soooo tasty, and I got the bacon maple syrup one. We then went to Pike’s Place Market and looked at all the various and odd things. There were a few fish stalls, flower stalls, and bakeries, but most of the rest of the places were knick-knack places. There was a really tasty chocolate pasta, but I would never want to cook with it since it would make a gigantic dessert.
We went to Yard house after the market and said goodbye to Wit along the way. At yardhouse we just relaxed and played a few games on Brian’s iPad. After a drink and some appetizers I hopped on the train for the airport and showed up a good number of hours early. Since I was flying through LAX I happened to be on the same flight as Ash so I talked to her and gave her Stephanie’s feedback on the video. The flights were non-eventful, and I was barely able to catch the connecting flight. It was on a twin turbo prop, which is something I wasn’t expecting. The plane still got me to SJC quickly. Steph was nice enough to pick me up from the airport, and we went back to my place. The kitties were happy to see me and I did a thorough cleaning of the bathroom before going to bed.
This morning Steph and I went to a Russian bakery called Piroshky Piroshky. It was really tasty, and we grabbed some for lunch. I went to the panels that Steph liked today, and I had a pretty good time about it. The Hey Ash panel was hilarious, and we got to see some pre-released footage. I really like how they have a group of friends that just started making a web series. It makes me want to have a web series. I said by to Steph and walked her to the train station. Brian and I played some Lovers in a Dangerous Space Time, and it was really fun. I look forward to being able to play it with Steph. I think they’ll be releasing on Mac based on what their website says, but you never know. A group of us went to dinner at Palomino, and it was very tasty. Afterwards we spent a while just hanging out.—–
