More Civ5

After making some Thailand reservations, Steph and I played a good bit more of our Civ5 game last night.  We ended up destroying one civ that decided I was getting annoying.  I had a city really close to his border, but it was across water.  With that he wasn’t able to storm the shores, so Steph and I used our superior navy to bombard all his units and cities.  Eventually we took him down.  I get the feeling that a few other of my cities will find the same fate, but it is hard to say.

Game of Thrones S3E7

I really enjoyed this episode, and it made a lot of movements forward in the plots.  We went over to Simon, Josh, and Trey’s.  Simon’s friends were there and cooked some amazing garlic bread, giant cookie, baked brie, and pasta.  I had a tasty cup of Bailey’s for watching the episode

Hanging out at Jeremy’s

We went to Jeremy B’s place for the afternoon.  Stephanie and Jeremy spent the time painting mini’s and I spent the time updating the blog, looking up a little more Thailand info, and taking a glorious nap.  Jeremy’s cats were so fluffy, especially Ash.  His couch is really comphy as well, and it reminds me a lot of our couch.  We had some of the cherries that we got at the farmer’s market and they were phenomenal.

Civ 5

Steph and I played a good bit of Civ5 last night.  I got a really good situation where I could expand and grow quickly.  The empire I had got a bonus in the food and culture gained from city-states.  This bonus game in handy when I was expanding out and the cities would rocket to size 5 or 6 with no problems.  I had a problem with happiness but solved most of it from building Notre Dame.  We got pretty far, but still have a long way to go to finish the game.  Perhaps we can do that some day this week.

Factory Fun!

After getting back from the Elephant Bar, Steph and I played two rounds of Factory Fun.  I won both of them, but she did pretty well considering.  She has the problem of getting stuck in the line of thinking she was doing before.  This shows in factory fun in that once the machines are down she doesn’t want to move them.  She is starting to realize that things don’t have to be the way they were before, and she is doing better for it.

Elephant Bar Restaurant

After the martial arts tournament we went to a place called the Elephant Bar Restaurant.  It was a really great atmosphere.  The fans were big waving fans that went back and forth, and there was a wooden elephant head watching us dine.  The food was decent, but I’d be willing to go back just for the atmosphere.  We all got drinks since they had just finished a really tiring tournament, I got a Blue Moon which was really tasty.  Dan was really happy to get his long awaited beer, since he’d been talking about it since the 3rd to last match he had.  All of them were so tired.  I really enjoyed meeting them all (Chris, Dan, Jason, Heidle, Diana, Michael).

Martial Arts Competition (Watching)

I got to watch Steph and her dojo in a martial arts competition.  It was really cool to get to see them fight.  Jason was a really cool guy and had the 2 really funny parts of the fights.  He did a full Conan move, jumping up with legs splayed in front of him and doing a full downward slice right onto the head of his competitor.  He also was in the last match of the day with Chris and tried to rock-paper-scissors for the win (Video).  They ended up fighting anyway.

Friday Night Potluck

I went to a potluck at Stanford.  Adelaide was hosting it with her roommates in Rains.  I got to see Amy, Nima, Caryn, and lots of randoms Stanford people.  Stephanie came along and we got to talk to everyone.  Amy is now living behind the Zynga Mountain View office.  Nima and Caryn are living in Mountain View as well, just down on Latham st.  I really enjoy having them close by.  I made some Guac for the party and took my veggie juice so that I wasn’t tempted to eat too much.  It worked rather well up until the end of the party, when I had a few slices of pizza.

Nima and Caryn took me bike riding this morning through Portola Valley.  It was a really intense ride and I was lagging behind a little the entire time.  I am going to be walking a little funny tomorrow from it.  I really enjoyed the ride, and would love to do it again.  We ended the ride with a quick pass through Stanford and sat in the Oval for a couple minutes to cool down.  We talked about what we would do if we had no worries about money.  Nima would dance, Caryn would get a PhD, and I would do the same things I’m doing now, just with a small difference in the time weighting.

We then went to the Cal Ave farmer’s market to meet up with Steph and Tina.  The market had lots of delicious blueberries, and of course I got a Samosa.  We sat under the giant metal flowers for a while and chatted.  I also got a good bit of broccoli and cucumber.
