Lunch at Google

I had lunch at Google today with Adam.  We talked over board games and how his first few weeks had been going.  We went to eat at a bbq place, and the food was really good.  I ate a little much, and had a lot of the really tasty drinks that they provided.

Tzolk’in Round 3

This round went really well.  It was nice to have a lot of food and people so that I could do nearly anything I wanted.  Tina still won in the end, with me in second, Adam in third, and Eliot in fourth.  The game went really well as I sprinted for the food upgrade, then used it as much as I could to get the great amounts of food.  I then used the food to place everyone on yellow several times to do whatever I wanted and get lots more food.  I placed 2 skulls and got a great Monument.  Tina placed 5 skulls and took it with that.  I think I get this game now, and can really take it on next time.

Lunch with Caryn

Caryn came over for lunch today and to play with the kitties.  They were really cute, and went out into the main area again.  I cooked some of the eggs and veggies, she brought over a whole foods wrap.  It was a good break for the middle of the day.

Knife of Dreams: Wheel of Time 11

I really liked this one as it focused on my favorite characters and wasn’t just setup for the next few books.  I really liked Matt’s parts in this one.  The way things went down for him was quite amusing, and I’m really looking forward to the end of his story.  Perrin getting his wife back was nice, and the way he surprises the Seanchan he is interacting with, and the same can be said of Matt.  The things happening with Egwene are also quite amusing, and I’m glad to have had so much of it in this book.

Walnuts

Today I collected a bunch of walnuts from the backyard since we have 2 walnut trees.  I think they are Californian walnuts and not black walnuts, but only cracking them will actually tell.  I wore my biking gloves while peeling them, but badly stained my fingers through the gloves anyway.  I put them into the dehydrator and they will be going overnight.  I’m hoping to have them edible in the morning.  If they turn out well I might go for some more.  I was going to do banana chips as well, but there wasn’t any more room in the dehydrator once I got all the walnuts in.

Tzolk’in Round 2

I was in desperate shortage for food this game.  That made me not able to place many of my units.  I think the next game I play will be very food focused early on and then I’ll pivot to resources, buildings, and skulls.  Adam wasn’t doing too well either, but he did much better than me.  Then Tina did much better than Adam.  Andrew did much better than all of us.  No one was particularly close to the others when it came to final score.

Squash with Nima

Today was the closest set of games yet.  Nima can still outlast me, but I was able to get really good placement on the third and fourth games to take them.  The overall was 2-3 in Nima’s favor.  I talked to Andrew and he might play some Squash with me, and I’m still hoping to get Chris to join me.

Fixing the Computer

I fixed my laptop, and got a really nice upgrade in the process.  I had the hard drive fail, which caused a kernel panic.  I got an SSD hard drive and it is so much faster.  I’ll also get longer battery life since it won’t suck up all the power.  It is a good upgrade and I’m glad to have my big laptop working again.

Kitties Close to Howard

I was able to hold the kitties close to Howard today without them being upset.  Howard and Archer even did some mutual sniffing.  It was really good for them to be so calm together.  I’m glad they are getting along, and soon I want to try having Howard moving around while they are there.
